Marigold: A Leg Saved from Amputation

Updated: Jan 1, 2022

Marigold was found severely injured and was taken to the Humane Society of Parkersburg after being likely hit by a car. At only 8 months old, the diagnosis of a broken femur was devastating, and expensive.

The Humane Society of Parkersburg received an estimate of $2800 to repair her leg, but that is a lot for a shelter to spend on just one animal. They were afraid they would have to choose the option that was within their budget- amputation.

The Humane Society of Parkersburg reached out to Dr. Gandolf, who was able to surgically repair the femur- at a cost they could afford! The Animal Care Hospital of Reynoldsburg generously offered their operating room to help make this possible. This affordable alternative allowed the Humane Society of Parkersburg to save Marigold’s leg!

The Humane Society of Parkersburg was able to repair Marigold’s leg rather than amputate because of donations that fund these kinds of surgeries! Please consider giving TODAY to help Marigold and other dogs keep their legs!!
