Moon: Three Femur Fractures

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

Moon was hit by a car and had a broken femur in three places.

The owners did not have the financial resources to send her to MedVet or OSU for surgery. It was a serious break and required serious surgical intervention. She was in pain, and they did not want to euthanize her or amputate the leg just because they couldn’t afford the surgery to fix her leg.

Luckily, Dr. Gandolf was able to successfully repair her leg using pins and an external skeletal fixation. Plating would have been ideal, but also more costly. She knew that the owners had a limited budget and was able to repair her leg affordably!

Moon was back to running and playing with her family in 4 months.
